Goals of the 1998 Expanding Your Horizons Conference

  • To encourage girls to study math and science
  • To increase awareness of the options available in non-traditional careers
  • To meet women whose careers depend upon math, science, engineering and technology

Girls are assigned to small groups, each led by a female CU college student for the whole morning. Each group attends the Career Fair, and two Student Workshops. About 250 girls attend the conference.

  • A look at AAUW's research on education and gender. The most recent studies have focused on how girls negotiate middle school and whether or not single-sex classrooms benefit girls.
