INTEREST GROUP NEWS

Young Professionals

Danielle Benoit writes that in December the Young Professional sponsored two families for the Project Self-Sufficiency holiday program. The mission of PSS is to assist low-income, single parents in their efforts to build and maintain strong, healthy families, achieve economic independence, and become free to community/government assistance. The two families were very appreciative - after the holidays, they! sent notes saying "thank you for thinking of us" and "you've brightened up our Christmas with the love in your hearts". The January activity will be happy hour at Trilogy, 2017 13th St., 303-473-9463 on Thursday, January 19th at 5:30P. In February, they will attend the CU Wind Symphony and Symphonic Band concert at 7:30P at Macky Auditorium (free to the public).

A pilot "teleseminar" branch training program for FY06 has exceeded expectations

As an incentive to encourage 2005 national convention attendance, the Association offered branches that sent three or more attendees the opportunity to participate in this new training model. AAUW has successfully hosted the first two of four interactive teleseminars, also known as "webinars," with participation by 108 eligible branches.

What does the Association do for my Branch?

A pilot "teleseminar" branch training program for! FY06 has exceeded expectations. As an incentive to encourage 2005 national convention attendance, the Association offered branches that sent three or more attendees the opportunity to participate in this new training model.

AAUW has successfully hosted the first two of four interactive teleseminars, also known as "webinars," with participation by 108 eligible branches. The teleseminars offer leadership training and support by sharing the knowledge and tools necessary for branches to make AAUW strong. Branches are serving as a focus group and evaluating the usefulness of the content and the effectiveness of the delivery method. Our goal is to determine if this new techn! ique will be useful to branches, and, if so, how we can offer this on a widespread basis in a cost-effective manner.

Branches can review the teleseminars on the AAUW website. The membership teleseminar is available at www.aauw.org/member_center/membership_growth/workshops.cfm, and the communications teleseminar will be posted shortly. Remaining teleseminars will focus on development (February 6 and 16) and mission-based programs (March 30 and April 3). Based on early results from participating members, we expect that you will hear more about teleseminars.
