Information, AAUW Public Policy
The public policy program underscores AAUW's mission of promoting equity
and education for all women and girls. The work of AAUW is accomplished
through responsible public participation at the local, state, national
and international levels. For more than a century, AAUW has influenced
legislative debate on critical issues such as education, sex discrimination,
civil rights, reproductive choice, Title IX, affirmative action, welfare
reform pay equity, family and medical leave and health care
AAUW supports a strengthened United Nations and its affiliated agencies.
We advocate implementation of the Platform for Action from the 4th World
Conference on Women. We affirm our commitment to the U.N. Convention on
the Elimination of All Forms of Discrimination Against Women (CEDAW).
