The Douglas County Branch has a lot going on this year. Besides our special interest groups, we raise funds for scholarships and have interesting programs at our meetings. Meetings are held at 6:30 p.m. every third Wednesday of the month at the Castle Rock Library which is located at 100 S. Wilcox St., Castle Rock. Please feel free to join us.
Every year, our branch offers scholarships to Douglas County residents obtaining a higher education later in life. We also offer three awards to Douglas County high school girls who excel at science, technology and mathematics.

Monday, March 8 , 1:00-2:15 AAUW Lakewood and Red Rocks Community College are co-sponsoring Amy Blackwell's talk on "Women's Education in South Africa and the U.S." at Red Rocks. This is another part of RRCC's International Women's Day program, preceding the branch's co-sponsored screening of "Persepolis."
Lakewood continues to raise money for the Educational Foundation and the Legal Advocacy Fund with a flower sale and a used book/garage sale event.
This year our monthly programs correlate with Hispanic Heritage Awareness Month, Disability Awareness Month, Native American History Month, and other interesting focuses. See our website for details.

Fall book sale

Successful community service 56th Bargain Book Fair at Twin Peaks Mall
Thanks to the community, branch members, and all who participated either working or purchasing books. Proceeds go to support local scholarship fund, local community action grant, advocacy and the national fund. Special thanks to the Twin Peaks Mall, Dillards, area King Soopers and Safeway stores, Vitamin Cottage, and Carbon Valley Recreation Center for providing book drop sites, equipment, and collaboration.
